We welcome petitions and recognise these are a way in which people can let us know about their concerns.
Petitions submitted to us should include:
- a clear and concise statement covering the subject of the petition and what action the petitioners wish the council to take
- the name, address and signature of any person supporting the petition
See section 6c of our constitution for guidelines about submitting a petition, what we'll do when we receive it, and how we respond to petitions.
How to submit a petition
You can send a petition to us by:
- post to: Governance and Member Support Unit, Core Services Directorate, Barnsley MBC, PO Box 634, Barnsley, S70 9GG
- email to: governance@barnsley.gov.uk
We don't have our own facility where you can create, sign and submit a petition online (known as an e-petition), but if you create an e-petition on another website we'll still consider it as long as it meets our petition guidelines.
What happens next
We'll acknowledge all petitions sent to us within 10 working days of receiving it. This acknowledgement will set out what we plan to do with the petition.
