Our Trading Standards service makes sure that consumer goods sold or supplied in Barnsley are safe to use. We do this by:
- inspecting premises
- regularly sampling and testing productsÂ
- investigating complaints
Some of the things we look at are:
- sales of age-restricted products
- toy safety
- electrical product safety
- vehicle safety

Report an unsafe product
You can report an unsafe product to us using our online form. Please give us as much detail as you can, including the name and location of the retailer, details of the problem, and any discussions you've had with the retailer.
Please also keep any relevant records, invoices and receipts for the product in case these needed later.
After making your report
You should keep us informed of any developments after you've reported an unsafe product, including if any dispute has been resolved.
