You can use our bulky waste collection service to dispose of items if they're too big to put in your bin and you can't take them to a household waste recycling centre.
Before arranging a collection, you might want to think about donating the items to a charity, such as Barnsley Hospice or British Heart Foundation. They'll usually collect items that can be reused free of charge. You could also use Freecycle.

Collection of black sacks
We can collect five black sacks of general household waste and count these as one standard item. The sacks must not contain any food waste.
The maximum number of black sacks we'll collect per order is 10 (two items).
Collection of items not on our standard list
To ask us to collect something that's not on our standard list of items, complete the online form to request a collection and we'll email you a quote for collecting the items.
- For an American-style fridge freezer, select 'American fridge freezer' from the list.
- For other items not on our standard list, select the 'Other' option, add a description, and upload a photo if you can.
Charges
The charges for this service are:
- £26 for up to two items on our standard list.
- £8 for each additional item on our standard list, up to a maximum of 12.
If you need to dismantle something (such as a wardrobe) we'll still count it as one item.
If you ask us to collect something not on our standard list, you have more than 12 items, or you're a landlord or business, we'll email you a quote for collecting your items.
Arrange a collection
You can request and pay for a bulky waste collection by registering for an online self-service account. This is a new service - your feedback will help us improve it.
Registering an account if you're a business or landlord
Before you can register as a business or landlord, you'll need to set up a personal online self-service account. You can then add your business to your profile.
To add your business:
- Select 'Add' in the business details section of your profile page.
- Select your business name from the account list. If it's not there, select 'Yes' next to the 'Account not found' option.
- Enter your company name, business type and registration number (optional).
- Select if your business address is the same as your profile address, or enter a different one.
- Select 'Add company'.
Your business will then be added to your profile.
When you start a new request, you'll be able to choose if it's a personal request or for your business.
When we'll collect your items
If all your items are on our standard list, we'll collect them within 12 working days.
If you ask us to collect something not on our standard list, you have more than 12 items, or if you're a landlord or business, we'll email you a quote and a link to pay online. We'll then pick your items up within 12 working days of you making the payment.
Getting your items ready for collection
You'll receive an email from us when we've scheduled your items for collection. You need to put the items outside your home as soon as you receive this email. We won't come back for any items that you don't put out in time.
Your items must be left within the boundary of your property and not obstruct the pavement. Please make sure they're easy for us to access and are all left clearly together. We won't come back for items that we can't access (for example, if they're behind a locked gate). Items like fridges or wardrobes must also be empty or we won't collect them.
Please only dismantle an item as much as is needed to remove it from your property. If you do need to dismantle an item, please bundle all of the pieces or place them together in a pile. This will help our crew load the items onto the collection vehicle when they pick your items up.
Checking the status of your collection
You can check the status of your collection at any time in your online account.
