Worsbrough Common community centre warmer and more welcoming thanks to our Pride of Place grant

USERS of a Barnsley community centre can gather in warmth and comfort thanks to a helping hand from our Pride of Place grants scheme.

Worsbrough Common Community Centre has been fitted with new central heating and flooring after trustees secured £30,000 from the grants initiative.

Carpet tiles have been replaced with modern flooring, reducing trip hazards and making cleaning easier.

The new heating system can be remotely controlled by trustees and allows different areas of the building to be set at variable temperatures, improving efficiency and reducing energy bills.

The overall result is a warmer, more comfortable, and inviting space for all community members to enjoy.

Vera Mawby, chair of Worsbrough Common Community Association, said: “We are so grateful for the grant from Barnsley Council, which has helped us to bring our facilities up to date.

“The centre is amazing now – the new flooring is a big upgrade on what we had before, and the heating system is wonderful.

“The feedback from our members has been overwhelmingly positive. The warmer and more inviting atmosphere has already made a difference in attendance and participation.

“We believe the people of Worsbrough Common deserve the best and thanks to this grant, we now have it!”

Worsbrough Common Community Centre is the base for our Barnsley Central Area Team and provides meeting room facilities. It hosts art, fitness and wellbeing groups, as well as an annual summer gala.
