A What's Your Move takeover is coming to Oakwell this Saturday for Barnsley's home game against Reading to promote physical activity and its benefits.
Working in partnership with the Barnsley FC Community Trust, the What's Your Move campaign started in 2020 and aims to get people in Barnsley more physically active so they move more, live well and feel better.
Whether it's a walk in the park with your family or participating in competitive sports, every active minute counts and the benefits are huge. You'll feel more energetic and more confident, sleep better and have an improved mood.
Reds players will wear t-shirts promoting What's Your Move during their warm-up, while the campaign will also be included in the matchday programme, on posters around the ground and the LED advertising boards.
Matt O'Neill, Executive Director for Growth and Sustainability, said: "We want the people of Barnsley to be more physically active, whatever their age and current level of fitness.
"From having our outdoor walking and cycling trails on our doorstep to our many parks, community and leisure centres, there's a wide range of options in the borough. It’s about finding the thing that helps you to move more and making it work for you.
"Being more active has so many positive benefits to you physically and mentally, so it's something we should build into our daily lives, including how we get to places by walking and cycling, or being part of the many physical activity groups and facilities that exist in Barnsley.
"We believe there’s something out there for everyone and What's Your Move encourages them to find it."
Kieron Campbell, Head of Foundation at Barnsley FC Community Trust, added: "We're delighted to continue our support for the What’s Your Move campaign.
"At Barnsley FC Community Trust, we believe in the power of sport and physical activity in positively changing lives. The countless benefits, encompassing both physical and mental wellbeing, highlight the importance of leading an active lifestyle.
"Together with our partners throughout Barnsley, we are committed to fostering opportunities for our community to enhance their levels of physical activity."
