Trans Pennine Trail fly-tipper fined and prosecuted

A Lundwood woman has been fined and prosecuted for fly-tipping on the Trans Pennine Trail.

In February 2024, our neighbourhood wardens investigated reports of fly-tipped waste on the Trans Pennine Trail behind Abbots Road.

Subsequent enquiries led to Margo Hole of Abbots Road, Lundwood being identified as the person responsible for dumping the waste.

After failing to engage with investigating officers at any point during the investigation and not attending earlier court hearings, a warrant was issued for her arrest.

On Monday 27 January, the 36-year-old attended court from custody and pleaded guilty to fly-tipping. She was ordered to pay a total of £1,588 in fines.

Councillor Wendy Cain, Cabinet Spokesperson for Public Health and Communities, said:

“Fly-tipping continues to be a blight on our borough but this latest prosecution and the significant fine imposed on the person responsible shows that we will not tolerate it within our communities.

“With the help and support of the wider public, we will identify and prosecute any offenders such as this one.

“I’d like to thank our wardens, the Safer Communities team and our litigation team for their help and hard work in this prosecution.”

If you witness fly-tipping or think someone may be dumping waste illegally, please report this on our website.
