Mapplewell and Staincross Library is set to become the seventh branch in the borough to benefit from our Libraries Refurbishment Programme. The library will close from Wednesday 27 March and is due to re-open in mid-June.

The makeover will increase library space and enhance the existing children’s area as well as create spaces for work and study. The library is also set to benefit from new carpets and more comfortable seating.

As with the previous refurbishments, Barnsley Libraries will be offering extra support to those who need it during the closure. If you can’t get to any other library in the area, you can join the Home Library Service for free and have books delivered to your doorstep. The nearest alternative library is Roundhouse Library.

“Located at the village hall, Mapplewell and Staincross Library is one of our busiest branches and we are excited about being able to make the existing offer even better to local residents.”

Mapplewell and Staincross Library refurbishment is part-funded by Barnsley Council’s Principal Towns and Local Centres programme, with an additional £100,000 from the UK Shared Prosperity Fund.
