A Barnsley resident has been prosecuted for fly-tipping after waste was discovered dumped on Lang Avenue, Lundwood.
Earlier this year in March, our neighbourhood wardens investigated a report of a quantity of household waste that was fly-tipped to the rear of Lang Avenue.
Subsequent enquiries led to Coleen Boldy of Lang Avenue, Lundwood, being identified as the person responsible for having deposited the waste.
Last Thursday (12 December), Ms Boldy pled guilty to the offence and after taking into account her mitigation and personal circumstances, was imposed a 12-month conditional discharge and ordered to pay £226 towards costs.
Councillor Wendy Cain, Cabinet Spokesperson for Public Health and Communities, said:
“Fly-tipping is a blight on our borough and this latest prosecution shows that we will not tolerate it within our communities.
“With the help and support of the wider public, we will identify and prosecute any offenders.
“I’d like to thank our wardens, the Safer Communities team and our litigation team for their help and hard work in this prosecution.”
If you witness fly-tipping or think someone may be dumping waste illegally, please report this on our website.
