It is shaping up to be a fangtastic Halloween at Barnsley Museums, with an exciting range of family activities over the October half-term.
From Monday, 28 October, until Sunday, 3 November, families can get active and creative across the museums’ five free heritage attractions.
At Cannon Hall Museum, Park and Gardens, families can explore the great outdoors and take a trip to the Forbidden Forest Trail.
On Thursday, 31 October, younger visitors can get involved in a fun and interactive workshop, Sugar Mice and Everything Nice!
Moving over to the town centre, visitors can find all the peculiar pumpkins hidden around The Cooper Gallery and Experience Barnsley Museum in a free, family-friendly trail.
At The Cooper Gallery, budding artists will be tasked with creating their own 3D artwork to take home in the Crazy Collages workshop.
Over at Experience Barnsley Museum, from Tuesday, 29 October, until Wednesday, 30 October, older children will hear terrifying tales of Barnsley ghosts in the Chamber of Spooky Treasures activity.
On Friday, 1 November, there will be a chance to make Halloween-inspired crafts in a free, hands-on workshop.
For some family fun, head over to Elsecar Heritage Centre for the Hell-Secar Bat and Else-Scarecrow trails, where visitors can find all the hidden bats and pumpkins to collect a sticker.
Older children can join time-travellers Kit and Echo to crack the code and uncover hidden stories in Echoes Through Time.
At Worsbrough Mill and Country Park, children can learn all about weird and wonderful plants in the Exploding Seedpods workshop.
Councillor Robin Franklin, Cabinet Spokesperson for Regeneration and Culture, said: “We have got an action-packed half-term coming up at Barnsley Museums, as families can enjoy amazing low-cost days out at our venues. You could be creating mini masterpieces in our galleries, listening to spooky stories in our museums, or exploring the great outdoors in our beautiful outdoor spaces. For some fun for all the family, visit any of our five free heritage attractions.”
A small charge applies to some activities. For more details on our events, please visit www.barnsley-museums.com/whats-on.
