We’re pleased to announce that, following its exciting refurbishment, Goldthorpe Library will be re-opening its doors from Monday 3 February.
Celebrating its 30th anniversary this year, Goldthorpe Library is the ninth branch in the borough to benefit from our Libraries Refurbishment Programme, which aims to make our library offer across the borough even better.
Over the last few months, the library has been transformed into a modern and flexible space. For families and our youngest visitors, the library now features an expanded children’s area with a sensory hideaway, soft seating and accessible book displays. For adults, new seating has been installed to sit and enjoy a book or join one of the library’s regular groups, either in the library space or the revamped first-floor meeting rooms. We’ve also installed areas designed for people to work and study.
The library will also be welcoming back the Dearne Area Team into a newly created office, supporting the space’s role as a community hub.
Anna Hartley, Executive Director for Public Health and Communities, said: “Since the start of the Libraries Refurbishment Programme we’ve been hard at work transforming our library spaces, and we can’t wait to welcome residents back to the newly-refurbished Goldthorpe Library.

The Goldthorpe Library refurbishment, along with the recent refurbishment of Darfield Library, is supported by £500k from the UK Shared Prosperity Fund.
