Febru-welly is back to encourage families across the borough to stay active throughout the month, whatever the weather.
As part of the campaign, we'll be sharing and celebrating activities taking place across the borough thanks to some of our key partners, providing opportunities for our residents to get out, get active and explore the great outdoors.
The beauty of Febru-welly is that anyone can get involved, even by just going for a short walk. Every active minute counts!
We'd love to hear from you and see your snaps as you're out and about. We're running a competition with prizes for the best entries into our three categories: biggest splash, best-looking wellies and muddiest wellies. Make sure to use the hashtag #BarnsleySplash with your picture to enter the competition. The winners will be announced in early March.
Councillor James Higginbottom, Cabinet spokesperson for Environment and Highways, said: "Febru-welly has become a staple part of our Sport and Physical Activity offer since we launched it in 2021, so we're pleased to be bringing it back for a fourth year.
"The activity programme gives families the chance to do something active together, particularly during half-term, and we hope the weather doesn't put anyone off as being active is incredibly beneficial for both our physical and mental health.
"We have some fantastic options in Barnsley for residents to take advantage of. From our many parks and green spaces to the Trans Pennine Trail, there's something for everyone so it's about finding what's right for you and giving it some welly!"
