Family Hubs Festival coming to Barnsley Town Centre for the first time

A celebration of Family Hubs and Start for Life services will be coming to Barnsley Town Centre for the first time in August.  

The Family Hubs Festival will take place on Saturday 31 August from 10am to 4pm in the Glass Works Square in Barnsley Town Centre.  

There will be family-fun entertainment aplenty throughout the day, with a variety of fun and exciting acts from Barnsley and surrounding areas. Headlining acts include local singer Viva la Vintage and entertainment for the children with Hippochondriac, Daft as a Brush, Football Crazy and Shed of Stories.  

The Family Hubs Festival will offer something for all local families in the borough, with professionals from over 20 local family support services attending to give their expert advice and guidance for families who need support.   

The Family Hubs and Start for Life offer supports families with children aged 0-19, or up to 25 with special educational needs or disabilities (SEND), providing easily accessible family support services across the Barnsley community in Family Hub sites, community buildings and online via the Virtual Family Hub.   

Executive Director of Children’s Services for Barnsley Council, Carly Speechley, said: The Family Hubs Festival will showcase everything that is great about our Family Hubs and Start for Life services in Barnsley.   

“We can’t wait to welcome families in our local community to join us for a day of celebrations, the opportunity to chat with professionals from our Family Hubs and Start for Life services and take part in a day of family-filled fun.
