We're spurring people on to put some walking into their everyday lives and encourage others to do the same this half-term with our 'Walk through Autumn' programme.
This year the theme is 'walk together' with many organised activities to try throughout the week providing a great chance to meet new people and have some fun or spend time outdoors with friends and family.
If you can't make it to any of the events, or they're not for you, you can go for a walk in your local area or at one of our many beautiful parks and greenspaces instead.
Councillor James Higginbottom, Cabinet spokesperson for Environment and Highways, said: "Walking is one of the easiest ways to incorporate physical activity into our daily lives: it's free and a great way to explore our borough.
"Even a short walk a day can be incredibly beneficial to your mental and physical health. Every active minute counts and helps you to move more, live well and feel better.
"The programme for the week is fabulous and offers something for people of all ages, including walking sports and Halloween-themed events, many of which are free and perfect for half-term."
