Dodworth Ward By-Election - statement of persons nominated

A by-election will take place in the Dodworth ward on Thursday 12 December. This election follows the recent resignation of Councillor Sam Christmas. 

Residents of Dodworth are encouraged to participate in this by-election to elect a new councillor to represent the Dodworth ward.

Make sure that you’re registered to vote by Tuesday, 26 November at 11.59pm. You can do this online at gov.uk/register-to-vote. It takes just five minutes, and you’ll need your National Insurance Number.  

Voters have a range of options – you can vote in person, by post or by appointing someone you trust to vote in your place, known as a proxy vote. The deadline to apply for a postal vote is 5pm on Wednesday 27 November. The deadline to apply for a proxy vote is a week later, 5pm on Wednesday 4 December.   

On polling day, Thursday, 12 December, please remember to bring your photo ID to the polling station. This is a requirement for voting and ensures the integrity of the election process.  

If you do not have one of the accepted types of ID, you can apply for free ID at gov.uk/apply-for-photo-id-voter-authority-certificate or by completing and submitting a paper form to Barnsley Council. You must apply by 5pm on Wednesday 4 December.
