Following the resignation of a former council member, a council by-election was held in the Dodworth ward on Thursday 12 December 2024.
The electorate was 8,503, there were 3 rejected ballot papers and the voter turnout was 24.38% (2,073 votes cast).

Andy Waters, of the Liberal Democrats Party, has been duly elected to serve the Dodworth ward.
