Barnsley Family Hubs celebrate the official launch at Barnsley Market

This morning, Barnsley Family Hubs celebrated the official launch of its Barnsley Market branch – a new, convenient drop-in space providing parents and families with information about the support available to them.
As part of the celebration, children and families were able to enjoy some treats as well as join in the fun with a balloon artist. Families were also able to find out more about the services offered by Family Hubs and its partners across the borough, as well as get a taster of Family Hubs activities for children 0-4 years old, delivered by Engagement Practitioners.
Playing a vital role in supporting families and children as part of our wider Great Childhoods Ambition commitments, Family Hubs at Barnsley Market aims to provide comprehensive information and support to families, helping them access a range of services and activities designed to enhance their wellbeing and development. The hub acts as an information point, where families can drop in and chat to our friendly staff about the services available to help them at our larger Family Hubs locations and across the borough.
Adding to the offer, Family Hubs at Barnsley Market is co-located with NHS Yorkshire Smokefree Barnsley’s services, supporting more people on their journey to go smoke-free. The hub's services will soon be further enhanced by the Play Hub, set to open in the coming months.
Councillor Trevor Cave, Cabinet Spokesperson for Children’s Services, said: "We are thrilled to officially launch the Family Hubs at Barnsley Market. This initiative is a testament to our commitment to improving the lives and futures of our children and young people.
“Through our Great Childhoods Ambition, we aim to provide every child in Barnsley with access to a wide range of opportunities and experiences. The Family Hubs plays a vital role in achieving this goal by delivering joined-up early help services and bringing together practitioners from various services to support families in our community.”
Since its soft opening in December last year, Family Hubs at Barnsley Market has already enabled various services to deliver support from the site including Citizens’ Advice Bureau, Infant Feeding, Adult Skills, Targeted Youth Services, Youth Voice, Waythrough, Barnsley Premier Leisure, vaccination services and many more. The hub has also hosted a collaboration event with the Barnsley Youth Council and will be hosting other collaboration events with the Family Hubs parent and carer panels.
