Barnsley Book Festival is back! Until Saturday 8 March, join us for an exciting programme of events including appearances by renowned authors, creative workshops, Q&A sessions, talks, family activities and more.

Over the next few weeks we’ve got so many fantastic events lined up, including appearances by acclaimed authors Michael Rosen and Milly Johnson, where you’ll have the opportunity to meet authors, poets, and writers, discover new stories, and celebrate a shared love for reading.

From conversations with renowned writers on the inspiration behind their work, to family activities over half-term to spark younger readers’ creativity, there’s so much to get involved with.

Take a look at some of the exciting events we’ve got lined up below:

  • LIVEwire Poetry Workshop, Monday 24 February: A free poetry workshop with internationally acclaimed poet Toria Garbutt.
  • Rosie Garland in conversation with Nicholas Royle, Wednesday 26 February: Acclaimed author Rosie Garland introduces her spellbinding new short story collection.
  • John Ironmonger in conversation with Anita Sethi, Monday 3 March: Acclaimed author John Ironmonger discusses his latest climate adventure novel.
  • LIVEwire Poetry Open Mic Night, Monday 3 March: A night of electric spoken word poetry, featuring internationally renowned acts and some of Barnsley's freshest emerging talent.
  • An Evening With Ajay Tegala, Wednesday 5 March: Wildlife presenter and nature writer Ajay Tegala talks about his fascinating wildlife experiences.
  • Maria Ferguson: Swell, Saturday 8 March: Join award-winning writer and performer Maria Ferguson as she reads from her second collection.
