Barnsley’s newest Good Food Pantry opened its doors in Cudworth making it easier for local people to access quality food no matter their budget.

Located at the Darfield Road Community Centre, this is the latest Good Food Pantry to open its doors in Barnsley and will be a great addition to the Good Food Pantry network which now has 6 sites across the borough.

This space has been made possible by the dedicated young people and staff at BettaLives, with support from Barnsley Council and Grassroots Sports Academy, and funding from the South Yorkshire Mayoral Combined Authority.

The Good Food Pantry BettaLives Cudworth offers the local community good quality food at heavily discounted prices. It will be open to the public every Monday from 1pm to 3pm starting today (Monday 22 July).

Good Food Pantries provide a sustainable and affordable food offer for local residents, forming part of the wider community support and activities our teams offer.

Food suppliers used by these pantries offer surplus food which would have otherwise gone to waste. This means that members can make big savings on their food bills while helping us to reduce food waste, supporting our Sustainable Barnsley ambitions.

Pantries don’t make a profit, with money made from sales being used to cover the costs of running these spaces, including buying varied good food to choose from.

“This latest opening is another great addition to an expanding network of Good Food Pantries across the borough.”
