Standard holiday dates

Some schools set their own holiday dates

Voluntary aided schools, trust schools and academies can set their own holiday pattern. Some choose to follow the standard dates, but others prefer to follow the pattern of neighbouring councils, depending on their location.

If your child attends a voluntary aided school, a trust school, or an academy, get in touch with the school directly to check their holiday dates.

Inset or teacher training days

As well as the standard school holidays, each school has five inset days every year, which they agree with their governing body.  Your child’s school will let you know what these dates are by giving your child a letter to bring home.
