We offer the full 15-standard Care Certificate eLearning programme to employed PAs. This is endorsed by Skills for Care.

The standards covered in the Care Certificate are:

  1. Understand your role
  2. Your personal development
  3. Duty of care
  4. Equality and diversity
  5. Work in a person-centred way
  6. Communication
  7. Privacy and dignity
  8. Fluids and nutrition
  9. Awareness of mental health, dementia and learning disabilities
  10. Safeguarding adults
  11. Safeguarding children
  12. Basic life support
  13. Health and safety
  14. Handling information
  15. Infection prevention and control

Other courses you can access are:

  • Emergency first aid
  • People moving people

Both of these courses are theory and practical skills sessions.

Other training may also be needed for your specific job role. This can be arranged with your employer directly.

Once you become an employed PA, you’ll be able to take other courses. These may include:

  • further safeguarding children and/or adults training
  • resolving conflict
  • epilepsy awareness and rescue medication

You'll be able to see a range of learning you can do online in the POD portal.

It is good practice to make sure your training is always kept up to date. Please remember that any extra training you may need is the responsibility of your employer, not the council.
