You can report dog fouling on roads, pavements and in parks using our online form.
If you see a dog owner not clean up after their dog and are willing to act as a witness, we can take formal action against them. If you didn't see the incident happen, of if you'd prefer not to act as a witness, we can:
- use signs in the area to raise awareness
- patrol known 'hot spots' and issue fixed penalty fines if we see dog fouling occur
How to make a report
You can report dog fouling by filling in our online form below. You need to tell us the location of the dog fouling and the dog owner who's responsible (if you know this).
You don't need to provide your own details to make a report, but it would be helpful in case we need more information from you. If you’re willing to provide a witness statement so we can prosecute the dog owner, you'll need to give us your contact details so we can get in touch.
What happens next
We’ll use the information you tell us to identify any problem 'hot spots' for dog fouling and take action, including publicity in the area.
If you tell us the dog owner who's responsible, we may send them an informal letter or pursue legal action.
If we're taking legal action we'll need a witness statement from you. If you've told us in the online form you're willing to give us a witness statement, we'll aim to contact you to take this within five days of receiving your report.
