Don't drive daft

We’re urging all young drivers - ‘don’t drive daft’ on our roads.

In 2022, 85 17 to 24-year-olds were a casualty in a road traffic collision in Barnsley. 27 of these were killed or seriously injured. In South Yorkshire, the figure rises to 476 with 140 killed or seriously injured.

There are five leading causes of road traffic collisions that end in a fatality or a serious injury. These are:

  • Speeding.
  • Not wearing a seatbelt.
  • Driving under the influence of drugs.
  • Driving under the influence of alcohol.
  • Distractions.

Hear from students at Barnsley College talking about why these distractions can cause incidents on our roads.
