Road safety

Road safety is everyone’s responsibility

That’s why we’ve launched Safer Roads in Barnsley. The aim is to promote road safety and reduce casualties and incidents on our roads.

In 2022, eight people were killed on Barnsley’s roads while a further 131 were severely injured. Every death or serious injury on our roads is one too many.

Our ambition is to reduce the number of people killed and seriously injured by at least 50% by 2030. Our long-term goal is zero people killed or seriously injured by 2050.
