Parks and open spaces
Barnsley's Local Access Forum is an independent statutory body. They advise the council and others on ways to improve public rights of way and green spaces in Barnsley.
The Local Access Forum is made up of volunteers who meet every two months to discuss public access issues. They also discuss how to make the countryside more suitable for open-air recreation.
Volunteers include users of public rights of way or open access land, as well as owners and occupiers of the land affected. Members include:
- local farmers
- cycling groups
- walking groups and rambling bodies
- equestrian bodies
- naturalists
- wildlife and agricultural advisory groups
- motorised vehicle groups
- disabled users
- general leisure users
