Our libraries provide a welcoming hub in the community. They are a safe yet exciting space where you can learn, discover, study and access services.
The Connecting Place can be found on the ground floor of Library @ the Lightbox. It is an open area where you can meet and relax. It's also the perfect venue for showcasing work and participating in a range of exciting and engaging events.
Job clubs
Are you searching for a job or looking at improving your skills to get back into work? We provide free help and advice at our job clubs.
We can help with finding jobs online, helping you complete an application form and creating or updating a CV.
You don't need to book to come to a job club - just drop in at one of the sessions.
Conversation cafe
If you need help developing language skills we run free conversation cafes. These are informal drop-ins aimed at helping people improve their spoken English ability.
Sessions include discussions around topical subjects, as well as life in Barnsley.

Learning and discovery
To discover something new, learn a skill or take up a new hobby, our libraries provide a great place to start.
We've an extensive collection of fiction and non-fiction titles you can search online, online resources you can access in the library and at home, plus a range of exciting activities and events where you can get involved.
The ideal place to study
You can find the Study Space in Library @ the Lightbox. It has comfortable sofas and plenty of desk space to complete group projects and homework.
There's also areas to study in all our other library branches.
