About us
We prioritise Children's Services here in Barnsley. We want every child in our borough to achieve their full potential. We want them to be safe and be happy.
We're an Ofsted rated 'Good' authority and we aspire to deliver even better services. Children and their families at the centre of all that we do.
We really value the work our social workers do. Therefore we've created more posts to support them in the work they do.

Our teams
We have several children and young people teams who are mainly responsible for our work under the:
- child in need framework
- child protection framework
- public law outline framework
All of our teams are located together. This enables our social workers to have access to team managers and advanced practitioners for any support they need during the day.
Training and development
We'll support you throughout your career with us:
- We’re committed to continuous professional development and passionate about progression.
- We offer regular, high quality, reflective case supervisions.
- We have regular supervisions to discuss your general wellbeing and training needs.
As part of our dedicated offer, we've developed our Practice Development Hub which brings together a range of training, support, and guidance available to all our social workers.
