LGBT+ community

In Barnsley, we're proud to support our LGBT+ community. Here’s how you can get involved and access support services.

Get involved

Pride Barnsley is a great event which supports our LGBT+ community. It's hosted every year as part of Barnsley’s Big Weekend.

You can also get involved with online groups and forums including the Barnsley LGBT+ Community Forum Facebook page or the TransBarnsley Facebook page.

If you're visiting our libraries you can also browse a collection of LGBT+ eBooks and audiobooks.

Fostering

It’s love, care and support that makes the best foster carers. This is regardless of your sexual orientation. The LGBT+ carers that Barnsley has are all great. They provide superb care for children who need it.

We welcome everyone here in Barnsley. If you have the space in your heart and home to foster a child, visit our fostering in Barnsley page. You can also call 01226 775876 for a one to one chat.

Hate crime

Our no place for hate campaign champions our borough to be a place where everyone feels safe and respected. If you face abuse online, such as on social media or in person, report it on our hate and harassment webpage.
