Celebrating special moments this Foster Care Fortnight

We’re proud to be a part of the Fostering Network’s Foster Care Fortnight 2024 (13 to 26 May), a campaign to raise the profile of fostering and show how foster care transforms lives.

The theme this year is #FosteringMoments, so we’ll be celebrating the moments that define fostering journeys, big and small, for our amazing foster carers and their families.

The moments that built confidence, made young people feel safe and created memories.

On Friday, 17 May, our fostering team and foster carers are coming together to take part in the annual Fostering Network’s Foster Walk.

The walk, around Worsbrough Mill and reservoir, will raise awareness of the vital work that they do every day for the children of Barnsley. If you’ve ever considered fostering, why not come and join us? You can have a casual chat with one of our friendly fostering team members to learn more about the fostering process. Meet in the car park at 10am.

Carly Speechley, Executive Director, Children’s Services, said: “Foster care is at the heart of our community, and we’re proud of our wonderful foster carers and staff who keep children near the people and places they know and love.

“Behind every successful foster child is a loving foster parent who believed in their potential. Every fostering journey has its special moments - whether it's a milestone achievement, a simple victory, or a quiet moment of reflection. This Fostering Fortnight is a great way for our carers to share their #FosteringMoments.

“Join our supportive community of caring individuals and change a child's life for the better. Start your fostering journey now - there’s high-level support and training available, and you can rely on our team to support you through every step of the way."
